Cape Windsor Update

The due date for 2024 Assessment payments is extended to February 15th.  We announced that the Bank of Ocean City would provide the ability to pay through Revopay, a link on our website.  The bank has run into a few glitches and believes they will have the system up and running on or about January 22nd.  Another blast will be sent out once the bank provides us with the link.

Fire & Ice Festival

The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is reaching out to communities to promote the Fire & Ice Festival, all of the information is below if you and friends or family would like to enter or sponsor.

Please find the Community Ice Sculpture Form attached explaining how families and individuals can sponsor their own ice sculpture for the Fire & Ice Festival the weekend of January 26-28. They get to choose their own design and where they want the ice sculpture displayed. The Into the Wild Theme is really bringing the creativity this year 😊 Best part is that 20% of the proceeds are donated to Believe in Tomorrow, a non-profit that provides housing for families of critically ill children right here in our community.

The Boards response and final decision counting ballots for the proposed amendment change.

We discussed improvements to our ballot counting process during the recent Board meeting on Saturday, September 9th. The aim was to enhance the process’s integrity and prevent any potentially fraudulent activities.

Some valuable suggestions were made, such as possibly stamping envelopes and opening them at a neutral location. However, Sue Scrapper pointed out that altering the process at this stage doesn’t seem practical. Our current process offers flexibility for homeowners to submit their ballots through various means, including mail, dropping them off at a box on Sue’s porch, or handing them directly to Sue. Ballots are being received through each of these methods, making it extremely challenging to keep votes confidential, especially for those who choose to hand-deliver their ballots.

We want to emphasize that our current process is designed with integrity in mind, and we are committed to not pre-counting ballots. While it may be difficult not to see how some individuals have voted due to the way ballots are received, please rest assured that no Board member with the exception of the Secretary/Treasurer has access to this information.

We understand the importance of maintaining trust in our community’s processes.  Any future changes to the process can be considered through amendments or bylaws adjustments going forward.

Cape Windsor’s News Update 9/5/23

Passing of Carrie “Jean” Dulaney

Jay Dulaney has shared the passing of his mother, Jean Dulaney. Jean was a long time Cape Windsor resident who lived on Tyler Ave, she passed on September 3, peacefully at home. Our thoughts are with the family at this time.

Our Pool, Social Event and Bylaw Committees
Volunteers will be contacted prior to October 1 with a rollout plan for each committee.

The Board made a request of the members, seeking volunteers for three committees. The reports from each committee will be used by the Board to plan and fund future improvement projects. Each committee will be provided a scope paper to assist in their research. If interested, send your response to capewindsorhelp@gmail.com. The committees are:

Committee #1 – Pool (size vs capacity)
Committee #2 – Annual Social Event (do we or don’t we have a community social event)
Committee #3 – Bylaw (update to reflect the changes needed)

Dolores (Dee) Vulgaris Obituary

The Vulgaris family has shared the passing of Mrs. Dee Vulgaris. Her husband Jack shared that over the past year both he and Dee have experienced a number of health issues. With great sadness Dee lost her battle on August 3rd. Water Repairs

This summer we have had more water breaks than in years past. The three resent water breaks have been fixed, one on Taft Ave., one on Wilson Ave., and one on Tyler Ave.

There is another possible break on Tyler Ave where water is pooling, our plumber canvased the area and could not identify a leak. Our volunteers will continue to monitor this situation.

Please stay alert to water pooling that is not typical and absent of a rain storm.

Speed limit is 15 mph

We address this topic every year, drivers must slow down when on Cape Windsor property and stop at every stop sign.

Tell your family, friends and renters, no speeding at any time and be mindful of those who are walking.
These concerns are the same for golf carts, no children should be driving if they do not have a valid license.
